Checking In to the Hilton Chicago
Step into the Hilton Chicago lobby, and you’ll think you’ve gone back in time. The first thing I noticfed was the gold and marble on the walls. It was super fancy. Then you enter a large room with a set of staircases on either side with a piano and small palm trees. Were we in Miami or Chicago? Its freezing outside. We were definitely in Chicago.
The room was lined with columns and you cant help but look up at the painted ceiling. Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in the 21st century anymore… I could have stayed in that room forever BUT we were there for a purpose… The Christmas suite! Lets move.
The reception desk was to the right. If you’re a Hilton Honors member (like us) there’s a separate line making the whole process even faster. You’ll find Santa’s elves (also known as the staff) ready to greet you with grins as wide as Frosty’s hat. They worked as fast as they would in Santa’s workshop making check in smoother than sliding down a candy cane slide. Make sure not to forget your Hilton Honors welcome gift, and if you haven’t joined yet… What are you waiting for?
The Christmas Suite: Deck the Halls and Let’s Rock Around the Tree!
Open the door, and voilà! The Christmas Suite hits you with a burst of festive cheer that’d make Rudolph blush. Santa welcomes you into a room full of twinkling lights, tinsel galore, and a tree so tall it might challenge Rockefeller Center. I half-expected Santa himself to be chilling on the sofa, sipping cocoa. I could see it now. Me and Santa, mugs in hand, watching Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas.
The Living Area: Cozy Corner or Santa’s Cozy Workshop? You Decide!
This cozy corner is perfect for families to watch movies or sing some karaoke. There was the cutest little karaoke machine our kids loved to play with. There were a couple of different songs to choose from. And even if there are no batteries… because there weren’t… pretending is just as good as the real thing.
Jingle bells were sung and hung on the windows drawing our eyes to the big city outside. The kids were amazed at how high up we were and all the buildings outside. You can see the lake, the pier, and the aquarium from our window. We were so excited to plan out all the things we would do while in Chicago.
Dining Delights: Cookies for Santa and Hot chocolate!
Now, onto the grub – because even Santa’s got to eat. The in-suite dining was like having Mrs. Claus as your personal chef. Festive cocktails? Check. The Welcome basket was filled with Holly and Jolly wines for both our red and white wine lovers. We had options!
Holiday-inspired dishes? Double-check. Every bite was like a one-way ticket to the North Pole of flavor town. The hot chocolate station was stacked with fixins. The hot choloate bombs were delish! To top it off we had little pepperment crumbles, nuts, chocolate powder, and chocolate spoons for stirring. It was a chocolate lovers dream come true!
But wait, there’s more. You can not miss the cookie station. This was the kids favorite part! The cookie decorating station where we were able to decorate little ginerbread cookies with different colored icing and sprinkles. There was so much to do in our suite, we really didn’t have to leave… AND we definitely didn’t want to.
The Bedroom: Dreaming of Sugarplums and Duvets So Fluffy!
There were 2 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms!!! The bedrooms were straight out of a holiday dream – festive linens, cozy blankets, and holiday lights that made counting sheep feel like a yuletide celebration. Each bed was Santa inspired with a red comforter and black “belt.” They had a mix of seasonally patterned pillows and they even left a mini Santa hat on the nightstand – cute alert!
Sleigh Bells and Farewell Swells
On our last day, as I reluctantly packed my bags, the Hilton Chicago’s Christmas Suite left me feeling like Buddy the Elf on Christmas morning – full of joy, with a touch of whimsy, and maybe a bit sad to leave. If you’re ready for a holiday escape that’s as playful as a snowball fight, book your stay and let the Hilton Chicago be your festive headquarters. Check their website here for more info.
