Why Fiesta Key RV Resort and Marina Is a Hidden Gem Families Will Absolutely Love
If you’ve been dreaming of palm trees, ocean views, and that laid-back island vibe, Fiesta Key RV Resort and Marina is where you need to go. As a Miami native, I love heading down to the Florida Keys for a quick escape. It feels like another world, even though it’s just a few hours from home. One of our favorite spots is Fiesta Key RV Resort and Marina. It’s the perfect mix of family fun, tropical relaxation, and classic Keys charm.
I’m sharing everything you need to know—amenities, site options, tips for families, and what makes this Thousand Trails resort stand out. Whether you’re new to RVing or a seasoned pro, this guide will help you plan your trip.

Getting There and First Impressions
The drive down US-1 is part of the magic. Windows down, ocean views on both sides, and that feeling of leaving the mainland behind. Fiesta Key is located in Long Key, about halfway between Key Largo and Key West. That makes it a great base for exploring both directions.
When you arrive, check-in is simple. The staff is friendly and efficient. You’ll get a map, wristbands, and all the details you need for your stay. The moment you pull in, you’ll notice the vibe—palm trees swaying, ocean breeze, and RVs tucked neatly into their sites. It’s tropical, relaxed, and welcoming.
Campsites and Setup
Fiesta Key offers several types of sites, from tent camping to RV hookups. We stayed at a back-in full hookup site. That meant we had electric, water, and sewer right at our site. No need to mess around with dump stations mid-trip—huge win for families.
- Back-in sites: Full hookups, great for longer stays.
- Pull-through sites: Easy in-and-out, perfect for bigger rigs.
- Tent sites: Close to nature, but with resort amenities nearby.
The sites are spacious and surrounded by tropical greenery. Palm trees add shade and give the whole resort a vacation feel. We noticed that quiet hours were respected, too. That’s important when you’re traveling with kids who need their rest (and parents who do, too).
Another bonus? The long-term residents and guests. Everyone was friendly and respectful. It feels like a community, but without being cliquey. Perfect balance.

Amenities That Stand Out
One of the best parts of Fiesta Key is the pool area. It’s right next to the beach. That means you have that fresh ocean breeze while in the pool. I also loved that I could still see the ocean when I was sitting out watching the kids. The view is incredible.
There are chairs with umbrellas, but here’s my tip: get there early. Chairs go fast, especially on weekends. Pack snacks, bring your towels, and settle in for a perfect pool day.
Other amenities include:
- On-site propane: Convenient if you need a refill.
- Camp store: Stocks snacks, toys, fishing gear, and essentials you might have forgotten.
- Marina: Great for fishing or watching the boats.
- Laundry facilities: A must for longer stays.
- Restaurant and bar: Casual bites with ocean views. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed while we were there. Not sure if its closed permanently or just for refurbishment.
It’s everything you need in one spot, so you don’t have to leave the resort if you don’t want to.

Things to Do for Kids (and Families)
Traveling with kids? Fiesta Key RV Resort and Marina makes it easy. Here are some of the highlights my family loved:
- Pool time: Hours of fun, with ocean views for parents. They have a very strict lightning policy as we discovered on this trip. It rained everyday and if lightning is within 5 miles, they close the pool and beach.
- Beach area: Great for shell collecting and sand play.
- Fishing: Grab some gear from the camp store and try your luck at the marina.
- Open space: Room for bikes, scooters, or just running around. There’s so much room to bike or scooter around the resort. Very little cars driving around during the day so make sure to bring lots of outdoor activities.
- Rec Room: They have a huge recreation room that we took advantage of with all the rain. They have a bunch or board games, cards, dominos, giant connect 4, and books. It was a great place for us to spread out and have room as the rain passed.
- Pickle ball: They have a pickle ball court at the resort and if you don’t have your own gear, you can rent some from the front desk.
- Basketball: They have a small basketball court with one basketball hoop. You can rent the basketball from the front desk.
And if you’re up for a short drive, there are two amazing spots about 30 minutes away:
- The Turtle Hospital (Marathon): A must-do. Kids learn about sea turtle rescue and even meet some of the patients.
- Florida Keys Aquarium Encounters (Marathon): Interactive and fun. You can touch stingrays, feed fish, and see sharks up close.
During certain times of the year, Fiesta Key also hosts seasonal activities like holiday events, crafts, and family games. It’s worth checking the calendar when you book.

Proximity to the Beach
This resort is truly oceanfront. You don’t have to drive anywhere to enjoy the beach—it’s right there. From your site, you’re only a short walk to the water. You can watch the sunrise with your coffee, or take the kids for an evening stroll as the sun sets.
That’s the magic of the Keys. You’re surrounded by turquoise water, and Fiesta Key makes the most of its location.
Step-by-Step Tips for a Great Stay
- Book early: This resort is popular, especially in peak season.
- Pick your site: If you want a back-in full hookup (with sewer at your site), request it.
- Arrive early if possible: Driving US-1 at rush hour can be stressful. Trust me. It took us 3 hours.
- Stock up before you come: The camp store is handy, but big groceries are better bought on the mainland. There is a Publix about 20 minutes away if you forget anything.
- Head to the pool early: Grab a chair and umbrella before they’re gone.
- Bring bikes or scooters for kids: The resort is safe and fun for riding around.
- Respect quiet hours: Everyone does, and it keeps the vibe peaceful.
Final Thoughts
Fiesta Key RV Resort and Marina is part of the Thousand Trails network, which is great if you’re a member. It can mean serious savings if you camp often. For us, it made the stay feel even more worth it. There is a low nightly fee but it’s still totally worth it. If you’re not a member yet but plan to RV a lot, it’s something to look into.
So, would we stay here again? Absolutely. Fiesta Key RV Resort and Marina checks all the boxes for a family-friendly Keys getaway. It’s close enough to Miami for an easy drive, but far enough to feel like you’re on island time. The tropical vibe, oceanfront pool, and welcoming community make it a standout spot.
If you’re looking for a place that combines convenience with the true Keys experience, this is it. Pack your swimsuits, grab the sunscreen, and get ready for a laid-back adventure your whole family will love.
